22nd Amateur Series Division 5 (completed)

Post by Graham Banks »

22ND AMATEUR SERIES (Division 5)

Intel Q6600 Quad Core
ChessGUI4Stick
128mb hash each
3-4-5 piece tablebases
Ponder off
HarrySchnapp.cgb book (limited to 12 moves)
40 moves in 32 minutes repeating (adapted for the CCRL)
4 cycles 44 rounds
All engines 32-bit 1CPU
Thanks to Harald Johnsen for a script he wrote that makes it much easier for me to post round by round results and standings.
Due to some engines being retired before the next series, the top four engines are likely to gain automatic promotion, but there will be no automatic relegation. The fifth top engine and the bottom engine (perhaps others also) will play grading matches to determine which division they will play in for the next series.
Participants

NanoSzachy 3.8
Ares 1.004
Plisk 0.2.6
Eeyore 1.50

Ghost 2.0.1
AliChess 4.21
Butcher 1.60n1
RattateChess 1.0 Nosferatu
Waxman 2009
Sungorus 1.4
Neurosis 2.5

Re: 22nd Amateur Series Division 5

In all my tests, Ghost 2 (and Ghost 2.0.1) and most test versions I played always scored positively against Ares 1.004 (I played games from 2 min to 25 min repeating in Arena and ChessGui). Typically, it scores around 66%-70% against Ares 1.004 heads-up. It also usually scores over 70% against Waxman.

I also found that it scores around 65% against AliChess 4.21. It used to win against Glas 1.5 (63%), but against Glass 1.6, it loses (46%). (The 1.6 version seems really greatly improved to me!

If I have more time, I will try to look into some of the losses and figure out why they happened...

But it's an interesting tournament again! :-D
